Dive one I entered the water via RHIB on the south side of Cook Island. Saddled on my scooter I travelled along the reef to the westerly end of the island. The vis was pretty cloudy on the westerly end so I then followed where the reef meets the sand to the very easterly end of the island. I hung around the easterly end for a while as there were some nice wobbegong's sun baking. There was also a really cool little cuttle fish which was great to take a few photos of.
Once I had a look around the easterly end I slowly headed west back to the where the boat was moored. Once I had the hull of the boat in sight I turned off my camera, GoPro and scooter. Left bottom, end of dive.
Dive two I left surface but with no scooter this time. I wanted to continue working out how to use the camera correctly and hopefully get some good shots. Because the vis was a bit cloudy to the west on the previous dive I went east on this dive travelling very slowly so I could check out all the nooks in the rocks. It is amazing the array of sea like at Cook Island. If you take the time to look closely you will find all sorts of bright, and not so bright sea life.
I only travelled about 70m east of the boat on this dive as I was finding so many cool little things to shoot. And as I like to really take my time planning my approach on a subject, this dive went really fast for me. I still have a long way to go with working out my camera, and I am still getting blown away at how alive the Gold Coast is with sea life.
